Condolences

Condolence From: Matt and Sandee Mondek
Condolence: Our hearts and prayers are with Dori, John and Nick during this difficult time. Guy touched so many lives and was part of so many memorable times over the fifty years in which we grew up together. We shared all the ups and downs of life, had each other’s backs and were always there for each other. We solved all the world's problems with a phone call or over a beer, cigar and a fishing pole. He was my best friend and one that you could always count on. He will be deeply missed. “REST IN PEACE BIG E”.

Condolence From: Bill Gau
Condolence: My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to Dori, Jon and Nick. Ernie was a stand-up guy. He was a man of utmost integrity. He had down to earth good common sense and a great sense of humor. Ernie was highly respected, not only as a highway commissioner, but in all aspects of his life. It was always a pleasure to work with Ernie over the years on highway safety issues. He was a very good friend and we shared many good times and many laughs. Most importantly Ernie loved and cherished his family. They meant everything to him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Bill Gau, Captain Fond du Lac Sheriff Office, RET; Law Enforcement Liaison WI Bureau of Transportation Safety, RET.

Condolence: My deepest sympathies go out to Ernie's family. I had the privilege to work under Ernie during his time at Winnebago County. I looked up to him as a mentor and his encouragements have played a large role in where I am today. His dedication to the TIME program and Work Zone Safety was remarkable. A very good man gone way too soon! Brian Trebiatowski, Marquette County Highway Commissioner

Condolence: Dori, on behalf of the Fond du Lac County Highway Department our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I had the privilege of working for Ernie while he was Highway Commissioner. He was a great boss but even better person. A teacher who was well respected in his field and willing to help even after he left the department. I didn’t just consider him a person I worked with but more importantly a friend who will be missed.

Tom Janke, Fond du Lac County Highway Commissioner

Condolence From: Tom Jean
Condolence: My heartfelt sympathy to Ernie's family. As a fellow Highway Commissioner, it was always a pleasure to share experiences with Ernie at meetings, conferences or training. Ernie was always gracious with his common sense analysis and enjoyed talking shop with a beverage in hand. There are so many of us that looked up to Ernie and sought his expertise of how to handle many situations that we are faced with. He will be sadly missed by all of us in the transportation family. Tom Jean, Lafayette County Highway Commissioner.

Condolence: I had the wonderful pleasure to get to know Ernie while we worked in Winnebago County. We were "replacements" at "the big guys lunch" at the same time. We carpooled to the lunches, a part of my week I most enjoyed. His common-sense, no nonsense, with a dash of humor approach to life was inspiring. He was a genuine and kind person who even met up with my husband for a round of golf. I feel blessed to call him a mentor, a friend, and the passenger-side GPS when it was my turn to drive. He left us far too soon. Dori, John, and Nick - my deepest sympathy to all of you...May peace find its way to your hearts while Erbie finds the greens above.

Condolence From: Ron & Brenda Chamberlain
Condolence: Dori,

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers in this time of grief. I had the honor and privilege to call Ernie my friend and considered him a mentor. Many of the things I have achieved in my career, he was involved with as a sounding board. Brenda and I enjoyed meeting you and going out to dinner with the two of you and we looked forward to being able to do so again. God bless and take care.
